3 January 1997

Dear Colleague:

It is my pleasure to remind you that the 1997 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Conference is scheduled for August 4 - 7, 1997 at the Elkhorn in Sun Valley, Idaho. The Call for Papers appeared in the November 1996 issue of Aerospace America and in the Sept/Oct 96 AAS Newsletter: a copy of the Call for Papers is enclosed for your reference. Your participation is cordially encouraged. I would like to remind you again that the deadline for your Abstract is February 15, 1997.

Located in Idaho's beautiful Wood River Valley, the Elkhorn Resort Sun Valley offers an award winning 18 hole golf course, tennis, swimming, horseback riding, hiking, biking, and fly fishing... all in a spectacular mountain setting.

Sun Valley has its own airport. Service is primarily from Salt Lake City (Skywest) and Boise, Idaho (Horizon Air). Elkhorn Resort provides a free courtesy shuttlebus for its guests from the Hailey Airport; the shuttlebus should be scheduled ahead of time. There are sufficient cars available for rent at the airport to handle our conference. You can also fly into Twin Falls, Idaho and drive approximately 100 miles to Sun Valley. Alternatively, you may fly into Salt Lake City (6 hour drive) or Boise (3 hour drive) and drive to Sun Valley.

The Elkhorn Resort and Golf Club is a modern facility appropriate for meetings of the size of the Astrodynamics Conference. There are several restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The AAS has reserved a block of rooms with the following guaranteed room rates:
$88.00 Standard Room
$98.00 Superior Room
$118.00 Deluxe Room
These rates will also be extended to attendees arriving three days early or extending their stay three days longer, should you wish to combine a vacation with the meeting. Reservations must be made by July 1, 1997. Point of contact information for the Elkhorn resort follows:
