Abstract

The problem of three dimensional orbit transfer considering inclination change as well as altitude change is investigated. In this pater, the concept of Inclination Change Efficiency (ICE) is introduced, which considers the effect of the gravitational potential field on the altitude raising and the effect of low thrust on the inclination change. Introduction of the ICE concept results in a simple suboptimal guidance law. The simplicity of the proposed guidance law will be beneficial in the stage of preliminary mission analysis and design. Orbit transfer from LEO to GSO is considered.
